For Sale: Fred’s Moving Wood & Tool Sale
Folks, We are moving out of Virginia and am selling wood and woodworking tools. Please share/pass-on this information onto friends and guild members and commercial places that may be interested in the 3-phase power tools.
Wood for Sale – Lots of wood (over 130 boards ) – curly/tiger maple, hard rock maple, genuine Peruvian mahogany (very hard to find, many sizes), figured mahogany, wide board cherry, quarter sawn poplar (good for draw sides), some bass wood, some spalted maple, eastern white pine. Typical Pricing 70% of list prices Irion Lumber and Hearn Hardwoods. Wood inventory list PDF file with sizes and pricing coming later today. Tools for Sale – Will also be a number of smaller items, e.g., vises, bar clamps, etc. Typically 50% new cost, depending on condition. See too inventory here
Location of Sale Items – Tools are located in first floor woodshop with rolltop door to driveway – easy move/loading. Large equipment – have 1 ton hoist to assist with loading. Large 3-phase equipment require special handling
Wood is pre-positioned for easier viewing and then loading. Wood is in garage (the large pieces for easier loading), woodshop, and basement (lighter boards and have direct basement walkout)
Sale Dates and Time – Public Sales: Sept 27/28, 2025. Sale times: 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Private appointment – call to schedule – weekends, weekdays, evenings. Indoors rain or shine.
Parking / Loading – Plenty of room on the wide street. Loading on two driveways
Payment – Cash preferred, but Zelle or Venmo accepted.
Deposit for Later Pickup/transportation – If you plan to arrange pickup for a later date, 20% deposit will hold the wood or tools.
Cutting Long Boards – We have an electric chain saw if you need to cut boards for transport.
Sales Basis – All sales “As-Is”, and final, no returns.
Loading Your Vehicle – Buyer is responsible for loading and transportation. We will have people available for moving boards, pulling boards from piles, and help loading boards onto your vehicle.
Safety – We do not want anyone getting hurt. Do not move boards on stacks by yourself. Stacks of boards can be unstable. Ask for help. Watch for tripping hazards. There are a number of sleeper boards on garage, woodshop floor and basement floor. Watch your feet – dropping boards can cause injury. Large wide boards are strong, but treat them gently. Dropping these boards can cause splits, especially wide 5/4s boards.
