Making Hand-Cut Dovetail Joints April 2025
This two-session workshop will introduce methods for laying out, marking, and cutting dovetail corner joints by hand.
The first session will focus on full (“through”) dovetails, and the second session will focus on half-blind dovetails, as are typically used for cabinetry.
Students will be provided wood samples for practicing the techniques as they are taught. This is a hands-on experience.
Each student must provide the following tools:
- Dovetail saw,
- Marking gauge,
- Marking knife,
- Pencil,
- 6″ square (or similar),
- Small tape measure or ruler,
- 1/4″ chisel, and
- 1/2″ chisel (both sharpened).
- Other tools needed will be provided.
Workshop will take place in the Guild shop at the Bain Center on Wednesdays April 9 and April 16 from 4 to 7 PM.
Workshop Cost: $40.
